From time to time I teach courses in my studio. Typically these run over several days and are suitable for beginners to learn the basics or the more experienced to work in depth.
They are practical, hands-on workshops in my well equipped studio with an emphasis on learning by doing. There are also comprehensive theory sessions and demonstrations covering all the essential topics, plus slide talks on a wide range of work.
I also occasionally run courses overseas. In the past these have included the Ausglass Conference, Australia, Wanganui Summer School New Zealand or Ezra Glass Studio in Japan.
I have been fortunate in having excellent studio assistants over the years, many of whom have gone on to become outstanding artists. These include Bruno Romanelli, Angela Jarman, Emma Woffendon, Sally Fawkes, Gayle Matthias and Fiaz Elson. Typically they have come to work in my studio on graduating to get practical experience in a professional studio, and have stayed for two to three years before going on to further studies or setting up their own studios.
